Ohio Games

So we made it back to Ohio and we are now full swing into the season! It was nice to spend a few days on campus for the remainder of spring break, but getting back into the swing of classes was a bit rough.

The beginning of our schedule in Ohio mostly consists of away games. The first games back were at Marietta College. Everyone was excited to start playing again, but it can be tough to manage classes and games. Almost all of our games throughout the week are at 3:00 and 5:00. So for away games that consist of a substantial drive, this could mean missing a few classes.

Marietta isn't too far away, so the bus left at 11:30. I had to miss half of my American Religious Communities class for the day. While the professors know that we are all students first and try to uphold this in class, they are usually very understanding if you request to leave class early. As long as you notify them in advance they are willing to work with your schedule and, if necessary, make alternate arrangements for exams and other assignments.

I was sick and not able to play when we traveled to Marietta, but I still watched the games from the stands. It is amazing how much the perspective changes from not only playing to cheering in the dugout, but as a spectator outside the field! The first game didn't go as well as we would have liked it to. The other team had some big hits (and home runs) that drove in runs and the game ended in 5 innings with a 12-5 score.

After this loss the team really came together to play in the second game and it was really exciting to watch! There was a combined effort at the plate and defensively we were able to hold Marietta in order to get the win with a 4-3 score!

Even though we lost the first game, it is always nice to end with a win! After games we always stop to get something to eat, usually Subway or Wendys.. it depends on what is around. So we loaded up the bus, stopped at Subway to get dinner, and made our way back to campus!
