Some time you can't help but love winter in Ohio. Today it was 45 degrees and sunny so we took advantage of the unusually warm weather and practiced outside. If you have ever played ball before you understand when I say today was a great day! Nothing beats the feeling of the first time you field a ground ball outside. Who would've thought our second day of practice we would get to take full field?(on the football turf but still I'm certainly not complaining, beats running sprints in the gym any day!)
A new gym and a nice day in January? Could we really ask for anything more? I sure hope this is a sign for all the great things to come this season!

1/30/12
Well today is the day.. the first day of practice! Coach has a lot planned for today, including a long run and stations. I guess we will see how it goes. The rest of the week is supposed to be really nice so we will be spending some time outside practicing on the turf.
We are now in the third week of classes and the work is continuing to build! It is important to stay on top of it all so that it doesn't start to pile up. With that said, I am off to get some things done before practice at 6.

Wooster and Traveling Experiences
Hello Everybody!
I just got back from a meeting where Juniors had the chance to share about their study abroad experiences. At Wooster about 35% of each graduating class have at least one off campus study experience during their time here. It was so cool to hear about the different places and adventures everyone had. I listened to several of my fellow Geology students share. Some students took classes that applied to the Geology major, while others simply took interesting and fun classes the would never have the chance to take in the United States. The great thing about Wooster is that your college experience is completely your own. There are plenty of athletes that are double majors who still get to study abroad(and graduate in four years). For example Rachel Frank, the center fielder on our team, is a math and art major who went to Italy last year. So if you want to do it all, Woo is the place for you!

Hey All--
Today we are wrapping up the Captain's practices with a softball day that will mainly consist of hitting. Tomorrow the team will be going to Superfit, a workout session that the College provides. Everyone has been working hard and has spent quite some time in the gym getting ready for practice next week. The first few weeks will be geared towards getting us into top shape and working on hitting and different situations. Coach has some exciting new ideas that she wants to implement this season and I can't wait to see how it all goes.
It has been pretty rainy the past few days, but since it is January and not snowing no one is really mad about it. Hopefully if the weather can stay relatively warm so we will be able to spend some time practicing outside.
The semester is starting to swing into full gear. I have two quizzes tomorrow, one in my biology class and one in my religion class. Tonight I will be busy studying for those. I am also taking a Spanish course and classic pilates. I am excited to see how this semester goes since I am taking so many different classes. These will help me meet all of the general course requirements that Wooster has. Just another part of a liberal arts education. When I came to college I wasn't really sure what that meant, but basically it means that in order to graduate you must complete courses in a variety of different disciplines. I am actually a big fan of it since it has shown me in various ways how everything is related and can apply to the real world.
Better get back to work

It is the end of January and 53 degrees outside right now! While it is so warm, it is also raining (but that is preferred over snow). The second week of classes has started and I hope that things start to pick up; last week seemed like it lasted for a month.
Friday night the softball team went out to have a nice dinner together. I was not able to go since I had to go home for a funeral, but from what I have heard everyone had fun! This is the last week of captain's practices before we start real practice next Monday. Before we know it, games will be starting. Oh, and only about six weeks until we go to Florida, the highlight of Spring semester!!
Between homework and softball practice I will also be filling out an application to Study Abroad in the fall! I am so excited and hope to travel to Ireland. Now I just have to write the essays. I will have no problem staying busy this week!

Hey
Hey!!
Just thought I would take some time on this Sunday afternoon to check in with everybody. We had our first big snowfall here in Wooster. Even though everything is covered in snow campus is still beautiful. Let's see, I had a very relaxing weekend, which was needed after the craziness of the first week back. On Friday the team went to Buffalo Wild Wings to celebrate one of our seniors 22nd birthday. It was a great was to bond over a good meal (and a nice break from cafeteria food). It was a really fun time and a great way for the older girls to get to know the younger ones outside of practice. On Saturday the Wooster Mens Basketball team defeated OWU with a last minute foul shot. It was an exciting game with a great turn out. Going to basketball games is a very popular activity for students, staff, and community members. It's always fun to cheer on the team plus they play some great ball.
Till next time!

First Week Of Class
Hi All,
I can't believe winter break is over and the first practice is only TWO WEEKS AWAY!!! These two weeks aren't lazy days though. Today we had a circuit workout with some extra cardio on the awesome new machines in the Scot Center. Everyone has been lifting and running on their own throughout break to prepare for 30th. Pitchers have been getting extra long throws in, so my arm is feeling a little sore. Yesterday we threw the team some live at bats. Each girl had six at bats. It was a great workout for both the batters and pitchers.
More to come soon!

Scot Center and Library Opening
Tonight the library was open so that students, staff, and members of the community could see the renovated space. There are now more up-to-date tables and computers for students to use when working on projects. There are also more study rooms for students to work together on projects. I would have to say that my favorite addition is the technology in these rooms. The table has a hook-up to a tv screen so that the laptop screen can be displayed for everyone to see! There is also a coffee machine in the library now so students do not have to leave to caffeinate when studying.
The Scot Center also had a Grand Opening tonight and it is absolutely amazing! There are four basketball courts with an indoor track surrounding it. On these courts, bases and the mound are also etched in the floor so that we can have full field practice inside! The new batting cages are pretty cool too since we will no longer have to flip the net before and after using. Treadmills and ellipticals are AWESOME! They all have tv screens and an iPod hook-up, not to mention the renovated weight room. I can't get over all of the new machines and lifting stations. Working out should be more enjoyable now! I am excited to start practicing now. But words don't do enough justice to these new facilities, you will have to come check them out!
Classes start tomorrow so I better enjoy my last stress free and lazy night!

I can't believe it is January 14th already! I am getting all of my stuff ready to move back in today. It is exciting, but I don't know where the time has gone. My roommate is going to be thrilled when she sees all of the stuff I am bringing back, but quite a bit of it is to decorate our room with!
I also had to break out my swimming suits and sunscreen so I will have them for the softball trip to Florida! I am so excited; it should be a blast. Practice starts the end of January so I will be spending some quality time in the Scot Center preparing for it.
Speaking of the Scot Center, the new addition will have a grand opening tomorrow night (Sunday) at 8. The softball team is meeting so that we can all explore it together. This should be SO much nicer than the old workout room and there are even basketball courts and an indoor track! I can't wait to see it.
Wooster has also renovated the first floor of the library and made it a Collaborative Research Environment. There is now a cafe in the library and plenty of space for students to work together. It is an exciting time in Wooster and I can't wait to get back and check it all out! Although I am a little apprehensive about starting classes on Monday :)

Hey All--
It has been quite awhile since I have blogged and a lot has happened. The semester ended and finals went well. My four finals were spread out during the first two days of finals, so that made for some stressful times and cramming, but it was nice because I was finished and able to come home and spend time with my family.
Break has been awesome! I have spent a lot of time with my family and friends, as well as found different work outs so that I can be prepared for practice in January. I am excited to start another semester and see everyone in Woo, but it is nice to just veg out some days and not worry about studying.
At this point I am most looking forward to the annual softball trip to Florida! It isn't until March, but it will be here before we know it. I am excited to start playing and getting into the swing of things. I just hope that it isn't snowing in May since we have had very little snowfall so far.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
More to come later..
